February notes

It’s already February and I haven’t even made my new year’s resolutions list yet.

Maybe you know that in Brazil the year only starts after the carnaval party, so that whole period between mid december and march is just flaming torch heat, extreme sun, beer, swimming pools and other summer stuff. The kids are not in school yet so there is an extra layer of stuff to comply with before making art and writing about it here.

Yet… I found a moment

I mean the world seems like it’s going straight into an apocalypse so it’s easy to justify the fire theme in recent artworks.

To dream of fire is to wake up here where we are burning the trees of life. The daughter of fire is here too, about to hang a coral snake ( very small and poisonous snake from the south american atlantic tropical forests, a snake I’ve seen a few times and a snake that once killed a small dog I had )

We have reconstruction, an artwork I had waiting in my hd for the right moment to be minted. The moment arose when Bosque Gracias was crowdsourcing their way to reconstruct their houses after a Patagonian fire. All our solidarity to their amazing work.

‘Permanence as means of reality over consequence’ might mean that, as one stand, to stay strong and present is to fight reality, to fight the reality of entropy, both physical and social. The fabric of time is again again again. The demons spinning the wheel of fortune will have to spare something.

The gift of fire was indeed a magic trick, there is no gift, there is no good, it’s all brightness. It ‘s their fault. I mean, how could we put all this responsibility over someone’s shoulder ?

For next month I have a different selection of themes, it’s not something I orchestrate, it’s something I feel, and now I’m feeling like fantasy is still possible. maybe it is, maybe it’s too late and fantasy is just a coping mechanism.
